The World Poker Tour (WPT) in partnership with Wynn Las Vegas announced Monday a historic event slated to run in December — what is being billed as the “largest single live tournament guarantee in the history of poker.”
The WPT World Championship Main Event is a $10,400 buy-in event guaranteeing $15 million in prize money and spanning for a week from December 12, 2022.
The record-breaking event will run as part of the 20-day festival kicking off on December 1 at Wynn Las Vegas. The Main will feature three starting flights, with each of them structured as a freezeout, meaning players will be permitted a single entry per flight. The final table will be filmed for TV and will take place at Esports Arena Las Vegas on December 20.
The event will be a fitting tribute to the WPT as the global poker brand is celebrating 20 years in the industry this year. Joining forces with Wynn marks yet another partnership between WPT and a globally-recognized casino brand.
