Online poker giant PokerStars has quietly tweaked its Stars Rewards loyalty program as it looks to improve player experience.
As per the changes spotted by PRO and sister site pokerfuse, the operator has modified Chest probabilities, making the payouts flatter by improving the odds of hitting a higher average value than before.
This has been done by decreasing the chance of hitting the highest multiplier significantly.
As per the operator, players are now rewarded the average value of the Chest or higher 58% of the time instead of 20%.
Furthermore, PokerStars has increased the minimum reward a player earns in all six Chests except for the Blue Chest (which has a fixed prize) by 20%. The Gold Chest which previously rewarded a minimum of $5 now rewards $6; similarly, players with Black Chest tier are rewarded at least $42 instead of $35 previously.
However, the average value of each Chest remains the same, so technically, there is no increase in rewards. But by reducing the variance players now earn much closer to the average value of the Chest.
