This week is PokerStars Team Online Week, a promotion to exploit the marketing value of its Team Online Pros. To start the week, PokerStars announced the names of two new players who have joined the Team.
First up is British pro Alex “Kanu7” Millar, well known as a high stakes heads-up cash game player, and Marc-Andre “FrenchDawg” Ladouceur, a Supernova Elite since 2010 and also a cash game specialist. Marc-Andre also managed plenty of TV time during his last two deep runs in the WSOP Main Event.
The promotions start with a Zoom Challenge. Team Pros will be playing Zoom cash games at stakes as lows as $0.02/$0.04. Beat the Pros by making a profit against them during the week and PokerStars will automatically add a bonus reward of ten times the profit.
A free $15k PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package is on offer for the best video depicting a player’s poker story. Players are asked to submit videos of their own poker story by uploading them to youtube and sending the link to vipclub@pokerstars.com. Members of PokerStars Team Online will add sundry prizes of $500 each for videos that impress them personally.
A $25k freeroll is planned for November 3—for players making a deposit before the tournament starts—and coaching sessions by Team Pros can be won by watching videos on the PokerStars Poker School site.
Finally, Supernova and Supernova Elite players have been individually invited to apply to become members of Team Online Pro.
A survey sent to a sample of players recently included several questions about how players perceived Team Online Pros and how happy they were with their interactions and the responsiveness of Team members in online chat.
PokerStars is clearly looking to get more marketing value from their sponsorships so this week could be the start of a much more active Team Online Pro.
