California assemblyman Mike Gatto introduced a bill on Tuesday aimed at regulating online poker in the state. The Internet Poker Consumer Protection Act of 2015 (AB 9) is the first online poker bill to be introduced since the 2015-16 Regular Session convened on December 1. The bill is eligible to be heard in committee as soon as January 1.

The bill contains many of the provisions that existed in a proposed bill composed by 13 California Indian tribes and circulated earlier this year, the most controversial of which is a bad actor clause that would exclude PokerStars from the market.
