First Full Tilt Remission Payments Scheduled for Friday

Players that provided incomplete or inaccurate banking information will have their payments delayed.

  • Petitioners that have the zero dollar test transaction post to their accounts, or have had their bank confirm its existence will receive a confirmation email from the GCG on Monday February 24 or Tuesday February 25 with the amount of their payment.
  • The Garden City Group is reporting that not all of the test transactions were successful. Petitioners that supplied incorrect or incomplete banking information have had the test transactions fail.
  • Players that have been contacted by the GCG and asked to update their banking information will receive payment in the second round of payments to be distributed for which a date has yet to be released.

Delaware Online Poker Revenue Dips in January

Despite experiencing the biggest decline, Dover Downs still represents 60% of the online poker market in Delaware

  • The latest figures for internet gaming in Delaware as reported Monday by the Delaware Lottery, show online poker dropped by 17% from December to January.
  • Net revenue from poker rake and fees across all three sites was reported as $88,390, down from $106,992 in December.
  • Dover Downs was the only online poker room to show an increase with a 15% boost.

“Buy-in Obligations” System to Curb Ratholing to Roll out on PokerStars

Long-awaited system to roll out on March 3.

  • The new system will roll out as a test on full ring NL100 tables.
  • “This will allow players to focus on playing poker, rather than on continuously finding new tables to play.”
  • The new system, which PokerStars is calling “Buy-In Obligations,” tracks players stacks across tables and, once a certain threshold is met, forces a player to return with the same stack size that they previously left with, even if joining a new table.
  • An “obligation” is the same regardless of the game type or buyin.

World Record Attempt Fails on PokerStars

Registrations fall just short of new world record for largest ever poker tournament.

  • The online poker room was looking to beat its own world record of 225,000 registrations which it set in June 2013.
  • PokerStars capped the number of registrations of the fee-free tournament at 230,000 and guaranteed a $300,000 prize pool, ensuring that players would enjoy a sizeable overlay.
  • Ultimately it was Dal2009 from Germany who outlasted 211,618 other players for the first place prize of $25,000.

Federal Internet Gambling Bill with Poker Carve-Out Expected

Nevada senators plan bill to plan all forms of online gaming, but with an online poker exemption.

  • US Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) expects a bill to be introduced soon that will prohibit online gambling with the exception of internet poker.
  • Heller stated that he is working on the anti-online gambling bill with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV).
  • Heller believes poker should be allowed because it is a game of skill.

California Revives Push for Online Poker

Two bills seeking to regulate online poker in the state of California were introduced on Friday.

  • Two bills seeking to regulate online poker in the state of California were introduced on Friday.
  • Bill AB 2291, introduced in the state assembly as an urgency bill, is authored by Assemblymember Reginald Jones-Sawyer (D-59).
  • Bill SB 1366, introduced in the state senate as an urgency bill, is authored by State Senator Lou Correa (D-34).

Despite the fall and repeating the belief of online poker’s malaise, this report was upbeat about poker’s prospects.
